ADHUNA Continuing Professional Development
Programs (CPDs)

CPDs are the heart of Project ADHUNA, where healthcare providers are equipped with the latest knowledge and tools to ensure every delivery is safe and every newborn has a better start.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is not just another training program—it’s a catalyst for transformation in maternal and neonatal health. Designed specifically for medical practitioners and paramedics involved in pregnancy care, it enables improvement through training of providers, bringing in best practices and innovation, while leveraging FOGSI societies to advocate for women’s health.

CPDs are conducted in every district that ADHUNA works in – 29 districts in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Bihar.

What Makes ADHUNA’s CPD Model Unique?

    • Evidence-Based Content
Every CPD module is grounded in national guidelines and globally endorsed best practices, with technical validation by FOGSI and leading experts.
    • Tailored for Dual Audiences
Separate modules are developed for: Doctors and Paramedical Staff.
This ensures content is relevant, role-specific, and actionable.
    • Blended Learning Approach
      The program offers both:
      • In-person trainings led by FOGSI master trainers
      • Self-paced online modules for flexibility and wider reach
      • Refresher sessions to reinforce sustainable practice change
  • Grounded in Adult Learning Principles
Each program incorporates real-world case discussions, drills, and practical tools that providers can use immediately in their settings.

Our CPD Rollout Strategy

Project ADHUNA’s CPD strategy is designed to be phased and scalable, enabling sustained learning and real-world practice change. Here’s how it’s being implemented:

1. Planning and Content Development
  • CPD modules are co-developed by technical experts and validated by FOGSI.
  • Modules are designed to reflect the realities of private practice.
  • Separate, role-specific content is prepared for:
    • Doctors
    • Nurses and other Paramedical Staff
2. Piloting:
  • Before rolling out CPDs across all geographies, a pilot phase was conducted.
  • Insights from the pilot are used to revise modules, improve delivery style, etc.—laying the foundation for a smoother scale-up across the remaining districts.

3. Master Trainer Model
  • A select group of Doctors are trained as Master Trainers.
  • These trainers lead CPD delivery in their respective districts and serve as mentors during facility engagement and follow-up.

4. Blended Learning Approach
  • In-person trainings: Facilitated by ADHUNA Master Trainers for interactive, skills-based learning.
  • Online modules:Self-paced versions for wider access.
  • Refresher modules: Focused on reinforcing sustainable integration of clinical practices.

5. Facility Coordination & Local Support
  • District FOGSI society members are actively involved in promoting CPD attendance and encouraging facility-level buy-in.
  • District Coordinators (DCs) mobilize facilities, organize logistics, and support participation.

6. Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Post-tests are administered during each session to gauge knowledge.
  • Follow-up visits are conducted to monitor adoption of clinical practices introduced through CPDs.
  • Feedback is used to revise and improve CPD content and delivery methods.
